Analyze a business tool and demonstrate that understanding through a test and project

​Computer Applications

  Event Description:

   Participants complete a production test in which they use multiple computer platforms to show general computer application competency. Competitors must also take a 100 question, 50-minute test which assesses the participant's knowledge. Competencies include:​

  • Create, Search, and Query Databases

  • Spreadsheet Functions and Formulas

  • Developing Slides & Presentations

  • Integrating Databases and Word Processing

  • Creating and Formatting with Word Processing

  • Integrating Spreadsheets and Word Processing

  • Integrating Presentations and Spreadsheets

Spreadsheet Applications

  Event Description:

   Participants complete a production test in which they use Excel to complete 5 short projects to show spreadsheet competency. Competitors must also take a 100 question, 50-minute test which assesses the participant's knowledge. Competencies include:​

  • Formulas

  • Functions

  • Graphics, Charts, & Reports

  • Pivot Tables & Advanced Tools

  • Macros and Templates

  • Filters & Extraction of Data

  • Format & Print Options

  • Purpose for Spreadsheets

Word Processing

  Event Description:

   Participants complete a production test in which they use Word to complete 5 short projects to show word processing competency. Competitors must also take a 100 question, 50-minute test which assesses the participant's knowledge. Competencies include:​

  • Related Application Knowledge

  • Advanced Applications

  • Printing

  • Document Formatting Rules & Standards

  • Basic Keyboarding Terminology & Concepts

  • Grammar, Punctuation, Spelling, & Proofreading
